Just a quick update. I fitted a new dual layer DVD, re-installed AC, patched it to 1.02 and everything works perfectly. I played 3 hours last night, to complete the first assassination, extra investigations and all the optional objectives and not a single crash.

I had a feeling the DVD player might be a weak spot. I am in the process of replacing it. However, AC did install from it, so I was not sure if there was a problem.
