I am a user. I do not appeciate if the OS or other programs gobble up my time before i get them to work like i want and/or expect. I have arrived to accept that Windows 10 is ugly,... because there is no easy fix for that. And i have to use it.
One thing helps the ex Windows 7 user, and that is this thing called Classic Shell.

I have a pc, i have a smartphone, and i have a TV. I want to keep them seperated. Microsoft is telling me that i am wrong, and combines them in one OS: Windows 10.
So there are some tweakings to do after installing Windows 10.

I have now installed Windows 10 on two of my desktop pc's in my network (the other two desktop pc's stay windows 7). Oh and my laptop is windows 10.
Fresh installations. I take Windows 10 completely as it is, no more classic shell. I try to live with it as it is, and try to mold it to my liking.

I use this method when thumb.db file(s) refuse to be deleted.

1. Or... i just noticed: open another images folder in display view that still has to create a thumbs.db file, to make it busy doing that so your culprit gets freed! Just delete it now. Might be quicker than that linked (otherwise very useful) tip.
2. Or (what i have been doing for many years) start searching for another thumbs.db to right-click on to open, and while windows is busy with that one, sometimes the culprit gets freed as well.

Customizable! Well, that's really needed. And you can, and in many details.
It even has a pictures preview function! And with this i am able to zoom in to pixel level again! That fixes my complaint in previous post.

Sadly, it is not a replacement for Windows Explorer though. You cannot drag and drop images from internet, using Firefox (75.0 64-bit). When i drag and drop, the .jpg file of about 1MB filesize turns into a .bmp of 32 MB after dropping!


EDIT (2 days later): and strangely, the original issue in Explorer has disappeared.... now i have the usual behaviour back, no super large folder contents preview anymore on mouse pointer while dragging. Really interesting.
This means i am back to just using Explorer for file tasks.

Photoshop still does not support (viewing, converting) of .webp pictures, but Irfan View does it perfectly!

The old Windows Photo Viewer is what i prefer over Microsoft Photos, and it displays .webp pictures, but they appear too dark. Because the program uses an old internal dll file which you need to replace with a new one:
