Oh that Audigy is very good. To onboard audio it is already difference like night and day. X-Fi is then an ever brighter day. But keep the money in your pocket if you don't have a fine speakersystem so you can actually hear it. Might you switch to Vista or Windows 7: ALchemy runs also on the Audigy cards. :thumbup:
Futureproof: when it comes to gaming, our CPU's and motherboards/chipsets are fast enough, not even surpassed by the latest generation from Intel!
Most performance increases are expected from SSD and DX11 and new videocard generation.
Is there a way to clean the screen with household products? Or even water?
Oh, about monitors I have a 15" CRT screen, and I read an old friend's post on this same forum:
The 8800GT/512MB is on par with the Radeon 3870/512MB. The new Radeon 4850 beats them both, especially when AA and AF are enabled, and in larger resolutions (1600x1200 and up). You'll have a 19" soon, you mean a flatscreen or a CRT? On a good 19" CRT monitor you can have 1600x1200 and then you'll notice (if you want max settings in modern games). On a flatscreen the resolution is fixed, the 19" would probably be 1280 x 1024(?) and won't really need the performance gain, especially if you can save 100 dollars! :thumbup:
A 15" that's quite small.
What your monitor can and cannot do you can easily find out. Though 1600 x 1200 on a 15" monitor will be tough for reading text.
Right-click on desktop > Properties > Settings > Advanced > tab Display. Keep the box checked next to "Hide resolutions this monitor cannot safely support" (or similar what it says, but that is the idea), and in the dropdownbox you see what is available. I have a 17" that can do 1600 x 1200 / 85 Hz, it's common for the good ones, hopefully yours is too.
