0. Before installing anything, make sure NO antivirus or any system protection software is running on the background (by the way, the same goes for installing the game).

1. update to SP2: done!

2.Update your DirectX to the August 2009 (DX11) version: done!

3. update your nVidia drivers (yours are 2 years old) to 195.62 WHQL (2009.11.26). Download to your PC > unblock > right-click on the file and select 'run as administrator'

4. update your Realtek HD audio drivers (yours are 2 years old) from this page.

Ps: I cant download the audio drivers, is there an other link you can give me?

Of course you can download the driver: on the Realtek page, check the box "Accept" > click Next > on the next page, select the HD Audio drivers > on the next page, select

Vista, Windows7 Driver(32/64 bits) Driver only (Executable file) --- R2.39 --- 2009/12/15 --- 52860k --- GO (download site 1 or 2 or 3)

Download to your PC > unblock > right-click on the file and select 'run as administrator'

5. Defragment your harddiskdrives, use Auslogics Defrag 3.03 (freeware). Download to your PC > unblock > right-click on the file and select 'run as administrator'. Then run the program to defragment.

So I updated both the driver and the sound system thing. I`m gonna start the defragmentation thing in a min,is there any thing els I should do when I install Dark Messiah again? Like...run as administrator, play as in windows xp (service pack 2).... anything like that?

Do NOT apply compatibility mode (XP or any)!

Put in the DVD.
Install the game.
Apply both patches in order 1.01 + 1.02
In Start > "Games" you will find the shortcut to the game. Double-click it to launch.
First run it will take some time while your system is examined, then a gamma screen appears, adjust if you need then click OK. Then the game should launch.
