Possible mouse wheel trouble, scrolling/zooming on its own.

It's a solid wood chair, with some rather broad flat arm rests.

One oddity (or lack thereof), my mouse troubles seem to have greatly let up since my friend got an email from Amazon saying the mouse had shipped. Only a few minor issues and a single 'psycho crazy mouse seizure' occurrence.

Now all I have to do is wonder when the heck the new mouse will arrive. (5-9 days for shipping, been at least a few days since it was finally ordered)

Why is it cheaper via Amazon? It certainly isn't faster.

Brand new from Amazon, the slow shipping is due to choosing their free 'super saver' shipping option my friend has access to for some orders (he gets a lot of stuff from Amazon at times). The only down side is the free 'super saver' shipping usually taking a few more days longer than standard shipping.

It is not a bad price, only $42.99. (was only $39.99 one time I checked)
Wal-Mart would have been only a few dollars more expensive, at almost $45, but they don't carry it in store, and they require an account with a credit card for site to store shipping, and I don't have a credit card, so that suddenly was no longer an option.
K-mart has them, for $60 according to their site... I don't think I even bothered to call to see if they had any in...
Two other store options were no longer an option due to gas costs. Target for $46, plus $5 gas to get to the nearest one, Best Buy also only $43 like Amazon, but it's a long drive to the nearest one, at least $10 gas.

So having my friend order it from Amazon for me became the most cost effective choice of my options.

Personally, I'm all for organized chaos.

And I'm all for beating on my friend's front door, since I have not heard from him in the last few days.
I am hoping this is not a case where he's got the mouse already but has not bothered to let me know yet.

I used 'housekeeping' as referring to spending money keeping hands very tight on the purse.... don't know how to express it better in english! saving a dollar (euro) where you can. I do that, i walk a mile (kilometers) if i can save a euro if the same thing is cheaper in another shop.

In Dutch it is related. Keeping a very tight budget (litteraly we say "keeping the finger on the purse") falls under the category 'good housekeeping'. :thumbup:

Well, the mouse finally came today.

I got the software installed a few minutes ago.
I still need to get used to it, although, since it responds a little differently than I am used to. I will probably need to tweak stuff like the cursor speed to get it where I want.

The order sheet copy that came said it was just 39.99. I guess my friend also gets a small discount on top of the free (if not slower) super saving shipping, or else I lucked out and got it during a sale of some sort.

It works well with my present mouse pad, so I don't have to worry about getting a new one.

A quick question.
How the heck do I get into BIOS?
All I remember is that I have to do something during startup.
It's a pain in the butt to get at the rear USB ports on my PC, and it seems I have (still) forgotten to re-enable the front USB ports in BIOS.

Hey you don't need the Logitech software. It brings no advantage, and the mouse works right out of the box, Windows knows all its functions. Without the software you have a thing less eating up RAM and potentially interfere and cause trouble. All i'm trying to say is: don't need to install something that the mouse doesn't need for fully functioning.

Well, I checked BIOS for the USB stuff, and one thing is set to HighSpeed, USB Legacy Support is set to Auto, and all the other options are set at Enabled.

Due to that, with my front USB ports apparently not working, I am thinking the problem is not BIOS settings, but that the USB ports on the front of the case are not even connected to the MB.
Considering the minor issues I had with the one computer shop when the computer was rebuilt, I guess I should not be to surprised.

I might have to just drag my PC to the local 'more expensive' PC place (rather than the one I usually go to) and have them get things hooked up and get my old Sound Blaster Audigy SE plugged in.
IIRC, I think you had mentioned before that even with the RealTek 'HD' onboard audio, that it would still be better to use the Sound Blaster Audigy SE.
And with my big hands being possibly responsible for wrecking my last MB, I am hesitant to try any DIY type computer work at this time.

Hey but you better use the rearside usb (closest to the PS/2 keyboard plug) to connect your mouse. So its cable goes over your table. Or do you prefer the frontside, cable over the ground where you can step on it and damage the plug?

Nevertheless i find it sloppy that they didn't connect the front usb cables back then.

If you don't trust yourself, don't do it.
But it's so very easy it would be a waste of time to let a shop do it.
At least take a look and unplug the power and open the case from the side.
You should see some loose cables coming from the fron side, at the end of which a black rectangular block with the letters USB in white. USB FITS IN ONE WAY ONLY: in one corner there's no hole and the plug on the motherboardside misses a pin in one corner.
You also have a 1394 (firewire) option in bios. If your case has no cable for it and/or if you don't use it anyway (it's used by videocamera's) just disable it in bios.

The Audigy card: be prepared for an hour of dumb work because it's possible that it doesn't work well in one PCI slot but excellent in the other. Maybe the bottom slot is the right one. The way to notice which is right is if Windows when booting up recognizes the new card as a Creative Audigy, and the Creative drivers recognize it as well. Then proceed. If that does not happen, turn off, take power off, replace card into another slot, retry procedure.
