Steam Singleplayer dosent install

so i got this really annoyin problem steam gives me always the same message when im tryin to install DM singleplayer:

The Steam servers are currently too Busy to handle your request. Please try again in a few minutes ...

pls help me

What do you mean "always". Have you downloaded the game yet? is it 100%? Or can't you download?

Is your game registered at Steam? Did you buy it from Steam?

well i bought it from steam and it wont let me download the singleplayer part multiplayer works fine

How old is your Steam installation?

Hey i just tried to download the Steam version and result: Steam just stops and quits itself.
I have the same build as you.
Hmmm... must investigate this.

I CAN install Team Fortress 2, so its working. Dark Messiah server appears to give a conflict....

Aha. I just did a fresh Steam install on another PC (that didn't have it installed at all), and it runs fine! Downloading DM singleplayer now.
So the problem is not on Steam / Valve, but on your PC.

Do you own a dvd version of the game?

I asked because on the PC that i have similar trouble as you, i have retail version of the game installed.
Normally i could have that one together with the Steam version, both installed. I'm figuring out a way to make Steam download the game again. Our problems are not exactly the same but similar.

Yes! Problem solved.
The game -also the Steam version- is Securom copyprotected.
When my retail dvd got damaged ( by taking it in and out the box at least a 1000 times ) i installed a no-dvd patch. But later i also bought a new copy of the Collector's Edition and btw later also 2 times the normal version, last copies from shops so damnd cheap. Anyway: i just uninstalled my retail game, and deleted the remaining folders (containing the files from patches 1.01 and 1.02). Result: opened Steam, right-clicked the grey Dark Messiah Might and Magic - Single Player > install game > and it goes right away! :thumbup:

So, solution: delete any no-dvd patches that Securom might notice and unmount virtual drives if you have any.

ok the problem is solved i deleted my entire steam folder and installed it again it downloads now thx for your help man
