Re: bink problem...
You have been looking at the wrong solution, why???
I'll try to direct you again to the solution:
=1= Singleplayer mm.exe error, binkw32.dll error, white video and then crash (sometimes in combination with _BinkShouldSkip@4 message, "[Bink]Error opening file: not a Bink file.. Skipping video", "Can't find background image materials\console\background01.Vtf ")....
That is a link, you can click on.

Re: bink problem...
Apparently Steam was not really closed in your case.
You MUST make sure that Steam is not running.
Just closing the Steam interface is not enough. Also exit the Steam process, for instance by right-click on the system tray Steam icon and select "Exit":
Another way is to go to Taskmanager (Ctrl+Alt+Del), tab "Processes" -> right-click on steam.exe -> select to "End Process".

Re: bink problem...
- That is the solution for (Steam user) where the DVD version was previously installed, now uninstalled. The game is also registered in Steam, and now downloaded through Steam. So you also have the DVD? Or not?
- It might help if you first remove the following key from Registry.
- Make sure that Steam is not running.
- Windows XP: Click Start > Run...
Windows Vista / 7: in the search field above the Start Orb...
type in:
regedit
click OK.
Navigate to the key
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Source\mm]
which you see in the picture below, and highlight it.
Delete the key.
- Restart the PC.
- Make sure that Steam is not running.
- Then
1.Cut the binkw32.dll file from
your STEAM directory\steamapps\*your account*\dark messiah might and magic single player\bin
2.paste it in
your STEAM directory\steamapps\*your account*\dark messiah might and magic single player

If you use printscreen, make sure it is saved as .jpg. Please do not try to post bitmaps.
If you have your .jpg pictures, then use the "Upload attachment" function you find below the textfield to add your picture to your post.
