And since i put more time in it i'm now running the RAM @ 2133...

And what does spending 160 euros more, gain? Well:

Code: Select all

[img][/img]
With the CPU at 4.6 Ghz, 1450 Vantage points to be exact. :-|-: Way too expensive.
This is my RAM. The best of the best at a premium. In other words: way overpriced and you'll hardly notice a difference (at least not in balance with what you paid more). I didn't know that when i ordered... i just quickly ordered the bestest and the fastest while money wasn't an issue for me in that short period. Now i think i should have bought really useful stuff for those 160 bucks.

But when in future i move to x79 (or later), this RAM goes with it because it's a quad channel kit. While this Z68 and i7-2700K know only dual channel...

3DMark11 result:
(it's about double my old i7-920 @3.8Ghz/5870 CF result LOL):
P 14504
Graphics Score: 18483
Physics Score: 9055
Combined Score: 8474
Graphics Test 1: 81.92 FPS
Graphics Test 2: 93.38 FPS
Graphics Test 3: 113.5 FPS
Graphics Test 4: 55.41 FPS
PhysicsTest: 28.75 FPS
CombinedTest: 39.42 FPS

For some buggy reason 3DM11 does not read my RAM speed correctly, it is actually running at 2133 Mhz (1066 x 2)... Maybe it is because of the "Mem Tweakit" function which works "on the fly" in Windows, so not based on BIOS settings (but overriding them), so 3DM11's system-analysis tool wouldn't know or have a clue.

Just wanted to save current BIOS to USB stick, why not. Asus recommends bupdater. Following their method (on that page as well as in my mobo's manual), it does not work at all, i keep getting: "Bad command or filename "bupdater".
Why are they spreading nonsense???

No problem saving it using AsusUpdate.

Oh by the way: A large base of people on the internet who consider themselves quite the expert, have the odd habit of warning against AsusUpdate and say people should always use one of the DOS-based methods.
Well i have never had any problem saving / flashing / even backflashing using AsusUpdate in my history with all my Asus-based PC's. It's a great program and i love it.

Now running a little over 4.8 Ghz (100.4 bc), RAM @ XMP profile. Turns out it now runs at 1:5 ratio. :???: Why?
3DMark11 results: almost identical. :???:

But, with Vantage: substantial improvement!
47097 but still with RAM not at max.

Now the question: does it matter which ratio the ram runs at, 1:5, 1:7, 1:8, 1:9, 1:20?

I have it now at 1:8 (1072 Mhz)... currently testing 3dmark11...
LOW!

3DMark Vantage: High!

3DM11 loses, Vantage gains... :inv:

I think my CPU voltage is way too high atm; now searching for lowest V working at 4.8G...

Orthos error-free and rockstable! (i think 5 hours 8 minutes is enough)...
Image

Error-free was the point here, but it is obvious that Orthos isn't stressing the CPU enough: 56 C max in those 5 hours.

In comes Aida64!
Rockstable once again and only a rare max peak of 71 C. I think this is pretty well-balanced. :bigok:
