Fix for Dark Messiah on Steam error - unable to load "filesystem_steam.dll"

After some recent Steam update I too received the error - unable to load "filesystem_steam.dll"
The solution is to participate in the Steam Beta.

- Steam Menu > View > Settings > Beta Participation > [click button] "CHANGE...".
- Click OK and let Steam restart.
