mm.exe has stoppped working

Hi all.

I bought this game kinda aware that he had some issues but a lot of other people can play this game without any problem.


I'm getting this error everytime i click on the OK after choosing a dificulty in the new game. He crashes every freaking time!!

''mm.exe has stopped working'' This is the error.


Here are my specs:


Windows 7 Home Premium 64bits

i3 2310M 2.1GHz

GT 540M 1GB

Max resolution is 1366x768


I already tried to run in compatibility mode with WXP SP3.

I have no idea why it doesn't work. Pls, help me.

3. and tell me what is the version, Steam? Retail?

1. In the Search box (just above the Start button) type:
   regedit
   hit Enter.
2. Navigate to the key
   [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Source\mm]
   you see in the picture below, and highlight it.
   
   
3. Right-click on the key > Export...
   In the Name box, type for instance:
   Valve_Source_mm-key
   In the Filetype box leave it at 'Registryfile (*.reg)'.
   Click Save.
   It is by default saved into the Documents folder.
4. In your Documents folder, find this .reg file.
   Right-click on it > Open with... select Notepad. Put your cursor into the text, select all then copy and paste it into your post.

2. You say your laptop has a GT 540M 1GB, and it should. But it doesn't show up in your dxdiag. Don't you have any nVidia drivers installed at all?! The only graphics chip showing up is the onboard Intel HD Graphics 3000
3. Were you able to run the game without changing the difficulty?
4. Enable the console (Main Menu > Options >Keyboard > Advanced... check it on and click OK to close) and go to Main Menu, then hit the ~ key. Do you see the same Build number as in the picture?

Yeah, i have the latest driver for the GT 540M, i can play Kingdom of Amalur and Dragon Age Origins without any problem (they are installed right now on my PC). I gonna try the menu thing right now.

No, if i select normal or hard it crashes too.

So, i need to use the beta client of Steam right?

Yeah, i don't know why this happens. When i use AIDA64 the software sometimes shows the info about the GT and sometimes don't. I think it is something with the OPTIMUS technology, i think if i choose to let the AUTO option, then the info about the GT shows, but in the control panel of the nVIDIA, i let the GT selected. I had problems with this AUTO option, in some games, the OPTIMUS technology works and in others, don't.
