Dark Messiah graphics issues on ATI HD3870

I'm using Radeon 4850 with 10.4 Catalyst and so far I didn't encounter this fog problem you're describing. But those window lights look terrible. On my 4850 they look exactly like on your 3870 I wonder why they look normal on X1900XT.

X1900XT was first generation 'High Dynamic Range' capable cards. Two generations further, the cards were prepared for much larger HDR in games, way out of the order for Dark Messiah with its subtle effects. That's what i make of it.
The effect should have been manually controllable. Maybe it is, in the config files.... i haven't looked.

The goodies glowing filling the room with a mist,. on my 5870 system i've still seen it a few times. It will happen to you too, i'm sure.

I tried playing with some bloom and hdr variables in the game console but nothing seems to control it. Actually I don't think it's hdr or bloom related since turning those effects off doesn't solve anything. I wonder if GeForce cards have this problem too because it's not the first time that Radeons have some graphic in-game bugs which GeForces doesn't. I must try some older Catalysts and renaming mm.exe to other games like oblivion.exe (it sometimes helps:).
