Just relax, and take your time for all things.

Nothing is under control.

For me, 'nothing is under control' is a not so good thing. Especially with all I have had to deal with.
On the up side, it looks like my financial situation has improved.
I still got to wait to get confirmation of something. but it seems like the worst is over.

I got a few hundred more than expected for something.
Due to that, it does seem like I might be able to spare a good $1k for a new computer.
Assuming nothing else pops up.

Maybe I should get a new desk and chair while I am at it... Or at least a chair, which is a bit low for my desk, and to big to easily scoot under the desk.

A quick question.
Would I need to reactivate Windows 7 if I simply switched out the CPU on my present computer?
A few old favorites are a little laggy with the old dual core 2.71ghz. I don't know if there is simply to much going on at once (such as an RTS with 'lots' of units roaming around, like Supreme Commander), or if my old CPU might just be slowly wearing out or something. A Phenom 960/965 might be a thing for me to look into for the present PC. Partly since I can't find the 970/975 anywhere online that is new the last I checked.

Another question.
Any idea how to deal with a sticking mouse wheel?
Leftovers from a frozen juice bar seems to be the basic cause. I can only guess a little residue from a popcicle stick, since it is just a small amount. It doesn't look like anything as much as a full drop, just like a thin film got brushed onto one side of the hole the mouse wheel is in, and the seam between the case adjacent to the mouse wheel and the left mouse button, which is luckily not sticking.

Also, Windows 9... was I seeing things when I saw mention of it? :hmm:
Boldly going forward, 'cause I can't find reverse.

Doctor Watson; Proving that being wrong is one step closer to being right.

You asked that already on page 1 of this thread... :whi: So, again yes, new CPU is considered major hardware change, that needs reactivation. (which is a simple thing to do: you start the PC and get a message that you are required to re-activate -> you select "by phone" -> you phone the number -> you tell the Microsoft person "i changed to a new CPU"-> Microsoft person says OK, i'll give you new activation code" -> you type that in, and all is done.)

But your issue is not caused by the CPU only, thus will not be solved by just upgrading CPU to a less older one. It is the trio CPU - RAM - Motherboard (including the chipset). You need to upgrade the trio to really benefit from investment and actually see desired result.

The mouse: unless it is on the outside and you're able to fully remove it, just buy a new mouse. Cleaning the insides from that sticky stuff, to get it working as new again may be almost impossible.

Windows 9... yeah, fall 2015, or later. What you may have read is about a very early preview version for developers.
