mm.exe has stopped working

So Steam Christmas sales rolled by and I decided to get DMoMM since it was a great and nostalgic game I used to play when I was around 10 or 11, but sadly I've come across the problem where my game crashes when I press okay after selecting a difficulty on new game or going to credits as well crashing on DM multiplayer at the loading screen. I've spent many hours on google trying to find a fix, but no solution has worked so far. I've looked through a couple of threads and have seen a couple of problems fixed so I'd be really grateful if mine can be fixed as well.

As mentioned above, when I go to start a new game it crashes after selecting a difficulty and clicking okay. It also crashes when I got to the credits, if it's helpful to know that. The multiplayer usually crashes after the loading screen, but really I just need single player to be running. And I've seen on a couple of threads that a regestration key is useful so

Your settings indicate you are trying to run the game in 1024 x 768 resolution?

I really hope it's not something with my graphics card, because I've heard that the game gets a little wonky when you use Nvidia cards

That's just a low performance budget card, not very fit for gaming at 1920 x 1080. But it would do at lowered settings. Some cards, like this one don't seem to produce a correct 'recommended settings' file for this game (which is an automated process when trying to run the game for the first time) and then refuse to start at all.

Copy and paste the next settings completely to overwrite your .reg file (while opened in Notepad or Notepad++)
and then Save, and exit Notepad (or Notepad++).

Then doubleclick the .reg file you just edited to import it back into Registry.

Once you get the game running successfully, you could try to up the ingame graphics settings a little, but don't push it with this card.

Please also understand that this game requires mouse and keyboard and won't run with your Xbox360 controller. Maybe you should even detach it.

Check if the settings in Registry have successfully been updated?

Set the Global settings in nVidia control panel to default before launching the game.

Make sure you have your antivirus disabled before launching the game, or set mm.exe to be allowed (some antivirus apps still consider mm.exe a virus).

The Registry seems to be updated. The way I checked was to export it again and see if the codes matched what you gave me, I feel like I'm doing it wrong though. I also don't actually own an anti-virus program, but use a free version of Malwarebytes instead and a few other programs if I gain any malware or viruses. None of them should do anything automatically, so I should be safe in that area. Also, I set Nvidia control panel to default and have tried to run it, but the same crash happened.

You might not have that issue -or are not aware of it- but the post shows how to restore the VC++ redist packages to the state they should be in.

- Also make sure you have installed DirectX 9.0c June 2010.
