What is 'better looking'? Why photo-realistic? Isn't Source looking GREAT already? In the 17th century, many people thought a painting only looked magnificent if you thought you could pick the apple from it, or the guy in the portrait appeared to have real veins under his skin. Many people still have that opinion. Yet a painting can be convincing , captivating and appealing in many ways, and the most expressive painting comes closer to a drawing, wich on its turn comes closer to the mind, imagination and emotion than the 'objective' photo-realistic painting.
When gaming we're still looking at a monitor and the graphics are (digitally) painted. There is a thin line passed which the suggestion of real material gets too much attention, from the makers and players alike, both forgetting what gaming is about in the first place. When i play classic Tomb Raider (3, 4, 5) i don't feel it lacks anything visually to stay a convincing thrilling game. DX7, DX8...

Crysis is beautifull yet as a game just a classic fps that wouldn't need such superduper over the top graphics. Don't get me wrong, i like it nevertheless and it gets my 7½/10. But Dark Messiah of Might and Magic (singleplayer) which i played 60+ times i give 10/10. As someone said Arkane "reinvented the wheel". :thup:

I agree on the Dark Messiah ratings, but I have to disagree on your 7 and a half/10 to Crysis.

My experience with Crysis is that it's more than a normal FPS, As you can Run forward and actually Grab your enemies and throw them away, and also the Suit options make you able to encounter the same places with different methods multiple times. I have played through the map "Assault" now about 10 times, It's my Fav. map as you have lots of space to move about on, and lots of different ways to assault the different bases spread across the map, allthough the game was "easy" to beat on hardest I would still give it a 10/10 as it's one of my 2 fav SP games :)

edit: And graphically I think the blur and lighting makes the game stunning while in the jungle and stuff, and it also has a beautiful enviroment!
