Re: Assassins Creed crash return to desktop

Post by xplosive »

My pc case is open, but i don't think my graphics card has dust on it, because the cart ain't two weeks old yet.

I just installed both drivers and no i'll play the game. I also shut down the messages from security center, maybe it helps.

wish me luck...

This pattern of 10 minutes...

-i noticed you have an external hdd drive. Disconnect it before running the game.
-reboot the PC with antivirus disabled (=unticked in msconfig) before running the game.
-did you update the chipset drivers i mentioned in this post?...
-Defragment the hdd! Diskeeper Lite (freeware)

Could you post a screenshot covering all your installed software list in Control Panel > Software. You can use the forum's "upload attachment" function to post the images.

1. I see you have nTune installed and running. If you told me, i missed that part.
NVIDIA nTune Performance Application
Enables one of the safest and easiest ways to automatically optimize your PC. nTune automatically detects the application running and dynamically optimizes the PC settings. Faster than tuning by hand, nTune delivers optimal settings for bus speeds, HyperTransport, memory timings, CPU registers, fans, and voltages in a safe, easy-to-use Microsoft® Windows® interface. Provides the ability to overclock system settings without entering the BIOS or changing hardware jumpers.
Could you set nTune to default, then disable it then uninstall it. To test if it makes the difference, becasue i don't trust what it does on your 9600GT at all.
And what are you doing with nVidia Performance tool ? Such programs add to the risk of an unstable 9600GT.

2. Your initial error:
The description for Event ID (0) in Source (0) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. One may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: 7
talks about "a remote computer" trying to display messages. Some wild guesses: you could have a trojan, or you are down/uploading while gaming (running GrabIt?), or you have a network software problem. NVidia Forceware Network Access Manager, what does it do?

I don't have nTune installed anymore. It doesn't appear in my software list nor in the start menu-programs. But i can still find it under C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\nTune In this folder i cannot find a uninstaller. In the folder are many dll files. I don't if i can delete this folder without any consequences?

About the error. I don't have this error anymore, since i unchecked both options (right mouse my computer, properties, tab remote connections).

Anyway, when i start the game i make sure grabit, outlook are closed.

I don't know what NVidia Forceware Network Access Manager does. It came with one of the drivers you suggested me. The same thing for the Performance tool. It came with nVidia System Tools.
