  • Create a dxdiag report:
    • Windows XP:
Click Start > Run... type in
      dxdiag
      click OK.
Give it a few moments to create the report (watch the loading bar to complete and disappear).
Select to Save All Information. Open the file in Notepad, select all, copy then paste the complete text into your next reply
      in a window with scrollbar.
    • Windows Vista / 7:
In the Search box (just above the Start button) type:
      dxdiag
      hit Enter.
See to it that the box "Check for WHQL digital signatures" is ticked on.
Give it a few moments to create the report (watch the loading bar to complete and disappear).
Select to Save All Information. Open the file in Notepad, select all, copy then paste the complete text into your next reply
      in a window with scrollbar.
  • ... and post it in a window with scrollbar
Before pasting your dxdiag into your post, hit the Scroll button.
It is especially invented for that. ;)

    1. Click button "Scroll":
      You'll notice that your
cursor is automatically between the brackets:
      Image
    2. paste (Ctrl+V):
      Image
    3. Click the "Submit" button.
Your post now shows your dxdiag report in a window with a scrollbar. Instead of the extremely long post it would have made otherwise.
Thanks. :)
