As CrossfireX user, vsync enabled to avoid flickering in the sky in first level.
On Windows 7 x64 and quad (i920) CPU, i got disturbing crackling sound. Didn't happen on my Vista x64 and E8400 (with the exact same soundcard X-Fi Titanium Fatal!ty).
Googling resulted in nothing about it involving Windows 7. This has nothing to do with Priority, as with patch v1.02 it's already automatically set to Normal, also the vanilla (unpatched) game produces the same sound crackling so that's not it. I found out it's the affinity.
Solution on the quadcore:
- do NOT launch the game with admin rights!
- after launch -during the intro- start TaskManager
- on the trl.exe process, set affinity to 2 cores (0 and 1)
- close TaskManager
Disabling Hyperthreading in BIOS has no effect, so don't bother with that. - enjoy the game with perfect sound
EDIT: that problem has not been fixed.Problem: In next generation mode, Khazachastan level and Nepal Galali Key level always crash, all other levels run fine.
Both these problems do not happen on XP, Catalyst 8.9, with the same settings ingame and in CCC, so it's not the card but the Catalyst Vista drivers (64-bit, i haven't tested Vista 32-bit). I haven't tested on a single HD 4870 either yet.
